Rivertowns Offers PALS for Life!

Rivertown Gym and Fitness, LLC invites breast cancer survivors to learn about a special program of strength training designed just for them. Called PALS for Life, the program teaches how to use resistance training to build strength, while following important safety precautions that reduce the risk of developing lymphedema. Lymphedema is a common side effect of breast cancer treatment, causing swelling and discomfort in the arms, hands, trunk, and/or the back. Breast cancer survivors are at lifetime risk of developing the condition, but research shows that strengthening the arms and upper body can reduce this risk. Women who already have breast cancer-related lymphedema can also benefit from the PALS for Life program.

To learn about lymphedema and this special strength training program, come to a one-hour information session at the gym, 739 Airway Drive, in Allegan. The session will take place at 3:30 on June 14. Following this session, Todd Greenman, Rivertown owner and certified personal trainer, will schedule a free, four-week PALS for Life group program, with no gym membership required. If interested in attending the information session, please call Todd or Rachel Greenman at 269-686-7900 to reserve a spot.
