Sylvia’s Place and Goodwill Industries of Southwestern Michigan announced a partnership to provide vouchers at Goodwill Stores for clothing and other material needs to women fleeing domestic violence and seeking shelter at Sylvia’s Place. Vouchers from Goodwill stores will allow Sylvia’s Place clients to gather necessary items for their life in and ultimately out of the shelter. Goodwill Industries’ Marketing Director Denise King said “This unique partnership allows Sylvia’s Place to focus on their mission and gives Goodwill an opportunity to serve and support their clients”.
Sylvia’s Place provides a warm and safe place for those fleeing the domestic violence cycle. They also provide case management, emergency clothing and supplies, personal hygiene products, food and laundry facilities as needed. Advocacy services are available to help victims’ access resources and act as a liaison with the county law enforcement and court system.
Upon arrival at our safe house, an assessment of mental, physical and financial needs is conducted. An individualized action plan is developed based on the client’s personal needs. Non-resident referrals are also available. All services are provided free of charge to victims of domestic violence. Sylvia’s Place does not discriminate on race, religion, sex, origin, age, or limited English.
Sylvia’s Place can also service the Spanish speaking population.
