Chamber Classic raises $1420 for Kavanagh Scholarship Fund

Ropes Courses, INC Team (l – r): Dina Hestera, Jon Weston, Rick McKinney, Molly Kinnison

Twenty-five teams teed off at Cheshire Hills Golf Course for the 24th annual Chamber Classic Golf Tournament on Thursday, June 28.  Missing the onset of the recent heat wave by hours, the weather was ideal for a day on the course.  Speaking of the course, Cheshire Hills was, per usual, in beautiful condition and the Johnsons and their staff are always perfect hosts for the event.

The Chamber took the opportunity of the tournament to pay tribute to Joe Kavanagh, a great supporter of the Chamber Classic over the years, who passed away unexpectedly October 2017.  A large contingent of Joe’s family and friends were on-hand – many traveling from the Detroit suburbs, Indiana, and Ohio – to represent Team Kavanagh.  The

Chamber introduced a new on-course event of which 100% of the revenue is being donated to the Joe Kavanagh Scholarship Fund.  The Grill House and Montage Market donated a gift basket for the winner of the event.  In addition, Andy’s Ace Hardware donated a Yeti cooler which was auctioned off at the event raising $425.00 and the

Chamber contributed additional funds to bring the total to $1420.00.  Josie Kavanagh—Joe’s mom—sold Team Kavanagh T-shirts adding $250.00 to that for a grand total of $1670.00 for the event.

The Ropes Courses, Inc. Mixed Division team of Molly Kinnison, Dina Hestera, Rick McKinney, and Jon Weston were the overall tournament champions shooting a round of 58, or 12 under par.  Winning the Open Division with a score of 59 was The Jamo Contingent team of Brian Corbett, Adam Baylerian, John Lake, and Lon Hoyer, all of whom were regulars on Kavanagh’s Par Logistics team over the years.
