The Allegan Area Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for its annual Evening of Recognition awards gala to be held on February 23, 2017 at The Silo. This event, presented by the Allegan Area Chamber of Commerce since 1982, celebrates individuals, organizations, and businesses that represent the best of Allegan. New businesses, new owners of current businesses, and those that have demonstrated their commitment to the Allegan area through relocation, expansion, and renovation will also be recognized.
The event begins at 5:00 PM (cash bar available) with an opportunity to catch up with old friends, meet new acquaintances, and network with the Allegan business community. Attendees will enjoy a plated meal prepared by the The Silo’s accomplished kitchen staff at 6:00 PM, with the awards ceremony immediately following. Ticket prices are $30.00/individual or $280.00/table (seating for 10). Meatless or other dietary considerations are available (please request when purchasing tickets).
Awards are being sought in the following categories:
Nominees do not need to be Allegan Area Chamber of Commerce members.
BUSINESS PERSON OF THE YEAR – Recipient of this award presents a positive professional image and has a successful business background. They are respected in the business community, promote the Allegan area, are successful within their profession, and have contributed considerable time in civic organizations.
LIFETIME SERVICE AWARD – Recognizes individuals who have contributed a considerable amount of time to community service and have worked to improve the quality of life in the Allegan community.
COMMUNITY SERVICE ORGANIZATION – An organization that has provided a positive influence within the community. These organizations uphold the ideals of community service and have established or maintain programs/projects which have benefited the community.
COMMUNITY SERVICE PERSON/PROJECT – An individual who has shown unselfish desire to serve our community in one or more capacities. This individual has spent considerable time working to improve the quality of life in the Allegan area during the 2016 calendar year. This award may alternatively recognize a group of volunteers who completed a one-time project in the 2016 calendar year.
COMMUNITY PRIDE, BEAUTIFICATION, & PROMOTION – An individual or organization that has contributed to, or provided for community pride, beautification or promotion.
PUBLIC SAFETY PROFESSIONAL – Any area fire safety, law enforcement or emergency medical team personnel that have gone above and beyond the call of duty, and who have played a vital role in our community. This award is inclusive of volunteers such as fire persons, Sheriff Reserves, etc..
HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONAL – A healthcare provider who has dedicated his or her career to improving the lives of patients as well as the overall healthcare in our community. A healthcare provider who truly signifies involvement, professional achievements, accomplishments and contributions in their profession.
EDUCATION PROFESSIONAL – An individual who has dedicated his or her life to improving the overall quality of education in the Allegan community. (i.e. teachers, counselors, administrators, board members, coaches). Award may alternatively recognize private instructors in fields such as music and sport.
YOUTH ACHIEVEMENT AWARD – an Allegan-area youth under the age of 21 that has displayed the spirit, skills, and drive of an entrepreneur by one or more of the following; founding their own micro-enterprise, being proactive in a community leadership program that targets economic development, starting/expanding a non-profit organization, or demonstrating extraordinary commitment and service to the betterment of the Allegan-area.
