Escape Allegan brings the excitement and challenges of escape rooms to the area. An escape room is also known as a mystery or puzzle room, where players use their wits and skills to solve a series of puzzles and riddles. Completing one puzzle leads to clues for another one. It’s a fast- paced hour for friends and family. There can be friendly competition to set the best time. Businesses are utilizing similar operations for team building exercises.
“We’re opening with two themed rooms, a 1920s Speakeasy which is a murder mystery, and a prison break. Players in both rooms strive to work together, follow the clues and beat the clock,” said Paul Wirth, owner of Escape Allegan. “Over the last few years there has been tremendous growth in escape rooms. Many people want to be a part of the adventure, a part of the action.”
There are aficionados who travel the circuit, trying their skills at beating the clock on new rooms. Wirth expects people will visit Allegan for the escape rooms, then discover many of the other attractions in the area, from the restaurants, parks, rope courses and more. Wirth indicated that there are plans to build two additional rooms later this summer. The themes for those rooms have yet to be determined. “It’s a work in progress,” he said.
