Groundbreaking Ceremony: Downtown Improvement Project

Join the City of Allegan, Milbocker & Sons Inc, Abonmarche, and special guest speakers for the groundbreaking ceremony of the Downtown Improvement Project on Monday, March 20 at 11am at the future Trowbridge Plaza between Minnie’s Restaurant and the Regent Arcade Showroom (200 Locust Street).
Work began in 2018 to develop a plan to completely reconstruct the Downtown Allegan core. Over the past four years, City Councilmembers, Downtown Development Authority board members, Public Spaces Commissioners, and City of Allegan staff have worked to come to a shared vision with public input from Allegan residents, business owners, and stakeholders.
The project scope will address underground utilities and streetscape improvements on Brady, Locust and Hubbard Streets. Construction will begin on March 20, 2023 and be completed in 2024.
Once the project is completed, Downtown Allegan will feature improved utility services, enhanced accessibility, pedestrian spaces, and improved traffic flow by turning current one-way streets back to two-way streets.
