Tantrick Brewing Co. Celebrates 3rd Year

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony marks relocation to Downtown Allegan

Tantrick Brewing Co. kicked off their 3rd Anniversary Party by celebrating their relocation to Downtown Allegan with an Allegan Area Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.  State Representative, Mary Whiteford, attended the ceremony and presented a State of Michigan Tribute to owners, Patrick Westover and Tanya Schafer, signed by Whiteford, State Senator, Aric Nesbitt, and US Representative, Fred Upton.

The party continued well into the evening with a handful of new beer releases, including this year’s edition of Gerald’s Birthday Cake, games, and live entertainment provided by Lana and The Tonics, Melophobix, and The Thermogenesis Project Fire Dancers.

Tantrick Brewing Co. opened its doors in July 2018 at a location just inside the city limits on 114th Ave (Hooker Rd.).  It immediately became a local favorite and destination for craft beer trekkers throughout Southwest Michigan and beyond.  Regularly hosting events like music BINGO, the Allegan District Library’s always-popular Pub Trivia Night, live entertainment, and food trucks, there was always a reason to meet friends at the brewery.

Outgrowing their original space and wanting to get in on the exciting changes in Downtown Allegan, Tantrick transformed two locations in the downtown business district, separating their brewing facility – located at 134 Water Street – and the taphouse, located at 243 Hubbard St.  Production began at the brewhouse over the winter and the taphouse, which overlooks Allegan’s Riverfront Plaza, opened its doors to the public on with a St. Tantrick’s Day Party on March 17.

“In three short years, we have grown with the support of our neighbors, and are proud to invest in the community we have come to love with our new permanent home for Tantrick Brewing Co.” said Tanya Schafer in a Lakeshore Advantage press release at that time.  Lakeshore Advantage is Allegan County’s contracted economic development partner.  “We congratulate Tantrick Brewing Co. on their growth, and support their decision to grow in downtown Allegan, contributing to the heartbeat and personality of the city’s redevelopment,” said Jennifer Owens, president, Lakeshore Advantage.

In that same press release, Allegan City Manager, Joel Dye said, The brewery is a destination that attracts visitors from all of Southwest Michigan and beyond, providing an introduction to Allegan as an anchor of our social district and driving customers to other retailers, attractions, and restaurants.”

At the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Tim Perrigo, Executive Director, Allegan Area Chamber of Commerce, stated, “At times, it seems like only yesterday that we held Tantrick’s first ribbon-cutting, while at other times, it seems like Tantrick has been here for years and years.  It became part of the very fabric of this community from day one.  Patrick and Tanya have worked tirelessly to create a space that is inviting, comfortable, and neighborly.  The Allegan Area Chamber of Commerce is ecstatic to welcome you downtown.”

Congratulations to Patrick, Tanya, your families, and your staff.
